The corner of Will's mouth curves into a contemptuous smirk. "No, doc, I don't," he says.

"See? He just won't stop!" Nina's face is flushed and sickly from sleepless nights and crying. She's a pitiful image—wasted, tired, desperate.

And Will laughs at her, unable to control himself.

I want the jellyfish,
pink and stringy lace,
stitched over my dead stripe scars.

I would like to start off by stating that this was so hard to judge, as I simply fell in love with every piece that was submitted. I know that is something often said about judging contests, but I really mean it when I say how amazed I was with the beautiful letters everyone was able to write. If you haven’t yet had a chance to look at the entries, they can all be located in this folder: [link]

To everyone who won, please feel free to contact the people offering critiques with which piece you’d like them to do; and wait for the features and other prizes, as they will come shortly. Now, without further ado, the winners for #IntrinsicallyInked’s first contest:

Life can be told through numbers- did you know that, dear child? That by saying a few simple syllables, by writing a stream of organized marks, you can communicate so much. Everyone knows you can pack a world, a story, a person into just a few words- but none consider numbers. Then again, I know you’re not one for numbers- even now (if this letter arrives on time, of course) you’re beginning to favor the weaving of words instead of the futile calculation of numbers…
